FAQ

What types of tapes can you convert to digital?

We specialise in converting various tape formats, including VHS, VHSc, 8mm, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, and DVCAM. We can also do standard audio cassettes too.

How long does the tape conversion process take?

The turnaround time depends on a few factors. How many jobs are ahead of yours, the quality of your tapes, what type of tape, and how many.

Single tapes can usually be done in a day or two.

What file formats are the conversions provided in?

We offer digital files in commonly used formats such as MP4, MKV, AVI or MOV ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices.

However, we generally recommend MP4 most of the time.

Can you enhance the quality of old or damaged tapes during the conversion process?

While we cannot fix severely damaged tapes, we do our best to transfer what we can. How the tape plays is how the transfer will be recorded.

Can you convert photos and slides to digital format as well?

Absolutely! We offer photo and slide scanning services to digitise your physical photographs, negatives and slides, allowing you to easily preserve and share them digitally or reproduce them into prints or something creative like a book or t-shirt.

Is there any risk of losing or damaging my tapes or photos during the conversion process?

We prioritise with the utmost care and attention when handling your tapes and photos during the conversion process. Our team adheres to stringent procedures to minimise any potential risks or damage. However, it’s important to note that due to the age and condition of the materials, there is a possibility of further damage or tape breakage in degraded sections, which is beyond our control or that of the equipment.

What are the storage options for the digital files? Can I receive them on a USB drive or via online cloud storage?

We offer various storage options, including USB drives, DVDs, or digital delivery via online cloud storage, allowing you to choose the method that suits your needs best.
